Festive Pucara Bull in Cream

Known as el torito de Pucará, this handsome bull is dressed to initiate the branding ceremonies in Pucará (Puno) and ensure the animals will be fertile. It is also believed that the bull guards families and households. Dionisio Rojas preserves this millenary tradition with this ceramic figurine, which he paints with festive detail against a body of cream.
