Damballa

Damballa is the serpent god, spirit of happiness and wealth. Mireille Delisme captures the lwa or spirit in this wonderful drapo vodou or 'voodoo flag'. Such flags are traditionally used in ceremonies, and are believed to serve as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Artisans craft the flag entirely by hand, stitching tiny glass beads to a cotton backing. Silk satin trims the edges of the wall hanging, which features a rod pocket at the top for display.
