Bright Silhouettes

Since learning to weave at the tender age of 8, Elena Ixtamer in Guatemala has worked to preserve her family and cultural legacy in weaving. This beautiful rayon ikat scarf is woven on a traditional backstrap loom in assorted bright colors on a black background. Ikat is a weaving technique that employs resist dyeing the yarns before weaving the fabric. Braided fringe trims both ends of the scarf.
