Named Luena, this African mask represents ideal feminine beauty. Masks like this one are traditionally used during initiations and ceremonies for fertility and bringing prosperity. Ghana's Christopher Nyasafo designs this mask, which is carved by hand from a single piece of sese wood. The textured face features squinted eyes beneath a heavy brow, as well as a round, toothy mouth that opens slightly.
