"Ever since I was a child, I've had a very close relationship with art and photography. Marcia, my mother, always carried her film camera and recorded the beautiful places and moments of our family's life. I was born in the mountains of Brazil and I have always been close to nature. In my ancestry, I carry the art of my artisan grandparents and the privilege of having a family that has always supported my adventures and discoveries as a human being and artist.

"I am a former officer of the Brazilian Army Special Troops. It's a somewhat unusual story for an artist to enlist. But I saw an opportunity to be with nature during the eight years serving my country. Most of the time was spent coordinating a mountaineering teaching center, which enabled a great development of my artistic sense as well as my love for nature and the planet.

"Since I ended my cycle as a military man, I have dedicated my life to peace, art and healthy living. I started this new cycle with a trip to the other side of the world. In addition to experiencing it, I was invited to register ? as a photographer ? an international organization's expedition to the island of Bali in Indonesia. While there, I visited other places in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

"On my return to Brazil, I was privileged to develop my work with great Brazilian artists and immerse myself more and more in the culture of my continent. For a few years, I established a close relationship with the Pataxo, a Brazilian indigenous ethnic group inhabiting the coast of Bahia. The photographic record of their rituals brought me to Novica. From the sales of these prints, 30 percent will go to the agro-forestry projects of the Pataxo village of Porto do Boi.

"Experiencing art in all its forms is something I always do with great ease and pleasure."
