Ghanaian artisan Christopher Nyasafo hand-carves this African mask from sese wood. He works in the style of traditional Bassa masks, featuring a face painted brown with braided hair. Influenced by Dan tribal traditions, this mask, called Gela, would have been used by Bassa dancers during entertainment ceremonies.
