Togetherness

To the Yaure people of Cote d'Ivoire this mask symbolizes togetherness. Carved of sese wood, a face of solemn features is crowned with the image of two birds face-to-face. Salihu Ibrahim crafts this replica by hand, and as the birds' beaks come into contact their bodies outline a heart.
